About this card

HelloFresh is the largest meal-kit company in the world — roughly 8 million active customers across 15 countries, with sister brands Green Chef, EveryPlate, Factor and Chefs Plate under the same group. A box is not groceries and not a takeaway: it is the exact quantity each recipe needs — 180g of mince, one shallot, a sachet of ras el hanout — with a printed card that gets it on the table in about half an hour. You pick the number of recipes and the number of servings; the credit on this card pays for those boxes.

Read this before you buy it for someone. HelloFresh does not sell a prepaid box — it sells a weekly plan. Redeeming the code means creating (or signing into) a HelloFresh account, and that account is an auto-renewing subscription that requires a payment method on file. The gift balance is spent first, box by box; the moment it runs out, the card on file is charged for the next week automatically. Deliveries can be paused or skipped from the account, but the deadline is five days before the next delivery, and nobody who does not know the card is there will think to look. Say it to the recipient when you send the code.

The rest is straightforward. The balance does not expire and carries no dormancy or service fee, and if a week costs more than the credit left, the difference goes to the payment method rather than blocking the order. What the credit does not cover is the extras: premium recipe surcharges, meal upgrades, add-ons from the market, shipping and tax are billed separately. Existing customers can redeem too — the balance simply attaches to the subscription they already run, without opening a second one.

Buying it here needs no HelloFresh account, no card of your own on file and no identity check: a delivery email, the coin you already hold, and the code lands in about eleven minutes. The constraint that decides who this suits is geography. This is a single-market card — a US code works only on hellofresh.com in the contiguous United States (no Alaska, no Hawaii), and the Australian row works only on hellofresh.com.au. The two are not interchangeable, and neither loads on HelloFresh Canada, the UK site or on Green Chef, EveryPlate or Factor.

What you get

  • A claim code, delivered by email
  • A private order page (14-day access)
  • Re-issue or full refund if the code fails
  • No HelloFresh login or ID required

Asked & answered

Specifics for HelloFresh cards. For general crypto-payment questions, see the site FAQ.

Does redeeming this sign the recipient up for a subscription?

Yes — and it is the one thing to tell them. HelloFresh does not sell a prepaid box; the code credits an account that runs as an auto-renewing weekly plan. The balance pays for the first boxes, then the payment method on file is charged automatically each week. Pausing or cancelling takes a minute in Account Settings, but it has to be done at least five days before the next delivery.

Do they have to put a payment card on file to use the credit?

Yes. HelloFresh asks for a credit card or another approved payment method at redemption even when the gift balance covers the whole first box, because the account it opens is a recurring plan rather than a one-off order. It is also what settles any shortfall: if a week costs more than the credit left, the difference goes to that card instead of the order failing.

What can the credit not be spent on?

It pays for the boxes themselves. HelloFresh excludes premium recipe surcharges, meal upgrades, market add-ons, shipping and taxes from gift-card value, so those lines are billed to the payment method on file. It also cannot be combined with promotional offers, which matters if the recipient is holding a new-customer discount code they meant to use at the same time.

Will a US card work on HelloFresh in Australia, Canada or the UK?

No. HelloFresh runs each of its 15 markets as a separate storefront with its own accounts, currency and card programme, and codes do not travel between them. Buy the row that matches where the recipient lives — hellofresh.com for the US, hellofresh.com.au for Australia. The credit also does not load on Green Chef, EveryPlate, Factor or Chefs Plate.

Can an existing HelloFresh customer use it, or is it new customers only?

Both work. An existing subscriber redeems the code against the account they already run, and the balance is simply drawn down on the boxes they were getting anyway — HelloFresh does not open a second subscription for them. New customers get the same credit, with the plan and the payment method set up as part of the redemption flow.

Does the balance expire, and what happens to the leftovers?

It does not expire. HelloFresh gift-card balances carry no activation, service or dormancy fee, and whatever is left after a box stays on the account for the next one — there is no minimum spend and no forfeited remainder. The only thing that cannot be done with a leftover balance is move it to a different HelloFresh account, or take it back out as cash.

How fast does the code arrive, and can I send it straight to someone else?

The code is emailed once your payment confirms on chain, about eleven minutes on median. Put the recipient's address in the delivery field at checkout and it goes to them directly — the code is never shown on the payment page. Worth pairing with a note about the weekly renewal, because the email from us will not explain HelloFresh's billing for you.

Which coins can I pay with, and is there a minimum?

Eight — Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Solana, USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, Litecoin and TRON. The floor on gift cards is $50 USD-equivalent, so the smallest US HelloFresh card here is $50 and the Australian row starts at A$100. No account, no KYC and no identity document at any point.
