About this card

DoorDash is the largest food-delivery platform in the United States by a distance, holding roughly 56% of the market and about 60% of convenience delivery. Its own gift-card page counts 310,000+ restaurants across 4,000 cities and 400+ cuisines, and the app long ago stopped being only about restaurants: the same cart covers grocery chains, convenience stores, pharmacy and pet aisles, alcohol where the law allows it, and DoorDash's own DashMart warehouses. Four Stanford students started it in Palo Alto in 2013; it now runs its own marketplace in the US, Canada, Australia and Mexico.

That breadth is what separates a marketplace card from a restaurant card. A Chili's card buys a meal at Chili's; a DoorDash card is open credit on every merchant in the app, which is why it survives a change of taste, a change of city, or a household that cannot agree on dinner. The code converts to account credit, sits on the account, and is drawn down automatically at each checkout — spend $34 of a $100 balance and $66 waits for the next order.

Two mechanics matter more than the headline. First, credit is spent against the whole checkout total, not the food line alone: taxes, the delivery fee and the service fee all come out of the same balance, and anything the balance cannot cover is charged to the payment method on the account. Second, DashPass and gift-card credit stack — a member still spends credit on orders, and the $0 delivery fee simply makes the balance stretch further. The subscription fee itself is billed to the card on the account rather than taken out of the gift card.

Two constraints before you pay. The card is bound to one country's marketplace: a US card redeems on a US account, a Canadian card on a Canadian one, an Australian card on an Australian one, and they do not convert between each other — pick the region your recipient actually orders in. And the reverse of the note a restaurant card carries applies here: a restaurant's own gift card cannot be used as payment inside DoorDash, so the two kinds of card are not substitutes for one another.

Asked & answered

Specifics for DoorDash cards. For general crypto-payment questions, see the site FAQ.

What can DoorDash credit actually buy?

Anything the app sells in that country. Restaurants are the headline — 310,000+ of them across 4,000 cities in the US alone — but the same balance pays for grocery chains, convenience stores, pharmacy and pet items, retail partners, alcohol where it is legal, and DoorDash's own DashMart warehouses. It is open credit, not a voucher tied to one menu.

Does the credit cover delivery fees, service fees and taxes?

Yes — this is the part people get wrong. DoorDash credit is applied against the whole checkout total, so tax, the delivery fee and the service fee all draw on the same balance rather than being billed separately. The practical consequence is that a $50 card buys somewhat less delivered food than $50 spent in the restaurant would.

Does it work with DashPass, and can it pay the DashPass fee?

The two stack: a DashPass member still spends gift-card credit on orders, and because the membership removes the delivery fee on eligible orders, the balance stretches further than it would without one. The subscription fee itself is billed to the payment method saved on the account, not taken out of the gift card.

Can I use a restaurant's own gift card inside the DoorDash app?

No. DoorDash accepts its own credit and ordinary payment methods; it does not take third-party restaurant gift cards at checkout. This is the exact reverse of the note a Chili's or Cold Stone card carries, and it is the reason a marketplace card and a restaurant card are complements rather than substitutes.

Will a US card work in Canada or Australia?

No. DoorDash runs a separate marketplace per country, each with its own accounts, currency and merchants, and a gift card is issued into exactly one of them. A US card needs a US account, a Canadian card a Canadian one, an Australian card an Australian one. Choose the region where the food will actually be delivered, not where you happen to be.

Does the credit expire, and what if I do not spend it all at once?

DoorDash credit does not expire, and it is drawn down rather than consumed: order $28 against a $100 balance and $72 stays on the account for next time, with no re-entry of the code. Several gift cards can be added to one account and merge into a single running balance.

Can I buy this as a gift for someone in another country?

Yes, provided you pick the right region at checkout — the card must match the marketplace where they order. Nothing on our side is tied to your location: type their address into the delivery-email field and the code goes straight to them, so a buyer anywhere can fund a US, Canadian or Australian DoorDash account.

Which coins can I pay with, and what is the smallest card?

Eight — Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Solana, USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, Litecoin and TRON. The floor is $50 USD-equivalent, which is $50 in the US, C$75 in Canada and A$100 in Australia. No account with us, no KYC and no identity document; the code is emailed once your payment confirms on chain, about eleven minutes on median.
