About this card

El Pollo Loco grills whole chickens the way a Sinaloan roadside stand does: marinated in citrus and spices, then cooked low and slow for 60 minutes over an open flame rather than reheated from a warmer. The guacamole is hand-smashed every day, the salsa fresca and avocado salsa are built from actual tomatoes, cilantro and onion, and the avocados for tostadas and salads are sliced in the restaurant. A gift card buys into that: family meals of fire-grilled chicken with tortillas and sides, burritos, bowls, quesadillas and street-corn.

Be clear about the map before buying, because the name travels further than the restaurants do. This is a regional chain, not a national one: close to 500 company-operated and franchised restaurants, the large majority of them in California, with the rest spread across Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Texas plus a handful of newer markets. Across most of the eastern United States there is simply nowhere to spend this card. Its own FAQ says every US restaurant should be participating, which is the good half of the news — the constraint is geography, not store policy.

Buying it here needs no rewards account and no identity check. You give us a delivery email, pay in the coin you already hold, and the code arrives in about eleven minutes. It works three ways: show the QR code from the email to the cashier in the restaurant, add the 19-digit number and PIN as a payment method at order.elpolloloco.com, or load it into the Loco Rewards app under Gift Card. Any remainder stays on the balance for the next order.

Two constraints worth naming. First, a quirk of their system: once a card is saved into the Loco Rewards app or an online profile, that balance can only be spent on app and online orders — to pay at the counter afterwards you need the original barcode rather than the saved card, so decide which way the recipient orders before loading it anywhere. Second, El Pollo Loco excludes certain promotional items from gift-card redemption; the standard menu, including family meals, is fine.

What you get

  • A claim code, delivered by email
  • A private order page (14-day access)
  • Re-issue or full refund if the code fails
  • No El Pollo Loco login or ID required

Asked & answered

Specifics for El Pollo Loco cards. For general crypto-payment questions, see the site FAQ.

Where in the United States can this actually be spent?

El Pollo Loco is a regional chain, not a national one. Its roughly 500 restaurants are concentrated in California, with the rest across Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Texas and a few newer markets. Across most of the eastern United States there is nowhere to redeem it, so check for a restaurant near the recipient before you buy.

Does it cover family meals, and are any items excluded?

Family meals — the fire-grilled chicken with tortillas, sides and salsas that most people actually buy — are covered, as is the rest of the standard menu. The card terms exclude certain promotional items, which is the usual carve-out for limited-time bundles priced below cost, so a promo deal may need a different payment method.

How do I redeem it in the restaurant rather than online?

Show the QR code in your delivery email to the cashier at checkout and they scan it — no app, no typing a 19-digit number at the register. Online it is different: at order.elpolloloco.com you pick El Pollo Loco Gift Card from the Add New Payment Method drop-down and enter the number and PIN.

What happens if I save the card into the Loco Rewards app?

It becomes an online-only balance. El Pollo Loco states that a gift card saved to the Loco Rewards app or an online profile "can only be used for in-app or online purchases" — to pay at the counter afterwards you present the original eGift barcode instead. Decide how the recipient orders before loading it anywhere.

Does the balance expire?

No. The balance does not expire under the brand's standard US terms, so there is no deadline to spend it and no dormancy fee shrinking it. In some states the law also lets you take a small remaining balance back as cash — El Pollo Loco runs a gift-card cash-back process for eligible cards in those states.

Can I use it to get El Pollo Loco delivered through DoorDash or Grubhub?

No. Delivery marketplaces accept only their own credit, never a restaurant gift card, so the code cannot be entered inside those apps. Order delivery or pickup through order.elpolloloco.com or the Loco Rewards app and the card pays normally — or buy a DoorDash card instead if delivery is the whole point.

What if the code is lost or the card is used by someone else?

Treat it like cash: El Pollo Loco states plainly that gift cards cannot be replaced if lost or stolen and that it is not responsible for unauthorised use. That is one more reason to send the code straight to the person who will use it and have them redeem it onto an order or an account promptly.

Which coins can I pay with, and what is the smallest card?

Eight — Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Solana, USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, Litecoin and TRON. The floor on gift cards is $50 USD-equivalent, so the smallest El Pollo Loco card here is $50. No account with us, no KYC and no identity document; we ask for an email once, to deliver the code.
