About this card

Caribou Coffee opened in Edina, Minnesota in 1992 and never sanded off the theme: wooden cabins, real fireplaces, canoe paddles on the wall, and around 800 coffeehouses concentrated in Minnesota and the upper Midwest. The drinks are the reason it holds that ground — the Campfire Mocha, the Turtle Mocha, the Northern Lite lattes and the Cold Press — alongside bakery and a whole-bean shop that ships from the website.

What separates this card from most coffee cards is where the balance can live. Caribou lets you transfer a gift-card balance straight into a Caribou Perks account, and Perks pays 2 points for every $1 when you check in and pay with the app or order ahead in it, against 1 point per $1 for checking in at the register or drive-thru and paying cash. Loading the code into the app is therefore not just convenience — it doubles the earn rate on every dollar of the gift.

Buying it here needs no Caribou account, no card on file and no identity check. You give us a delivery email, pay in the coin you already hold, and the claim code arrives in about eleven minutes. The recipient can then redeem it in a store, in the app, or against a bag of beans on cariboucoffee.com — three different ways to spend the same balance.

The constraint is the word "participating". Caribou runs a large non-traditional and franchised estate — licensed counters inside airports, hospitals, universities, hotels and grocery stores, plus international franchises — and those sites are frequently outside the gift-card programme even though the sign over them says Caribou. Caribou is part of Panera Brands, but Panera issues its own cards and nothing crosses between them. And an order placed in Uber Eats is billed by Uber, so the card cannot pay for it; order in the Caribou app instead.

What you get

  • A claim code, delivered by email
  • A private order page (14-day access)
  • Re-issue or full refund if the code fails
  • No Caribou Coffee login or ID required

Asked & answered

Specifics for Caribou Coffee cards. For general crypto-payment questions, see the site FAQ.

Should I load it into the Caribou Perks app or just hand it over?

Load it. Caribou lets you transfer a gift-card balance into your Perks account, and paying that way earns 2 points per $1 when you check in with the app or order ahead — double the 1 point per $1 you get by checking in at the register and paying cash. Same money, twice the earn.

Will it work at the Caribou counter in an airport or hospital?

Often not. Caribou has a large non-traditional and franchised estate — licensed counters inside airports, hospitals, universities, hotels and grocery stores — and those tills sit outside the gift-card programme even though the branding matches. The card is good at participating locations, which in practice means the company coffeehouses.

Caribou is part of Panera Brands — can I spend it at Panera?

No. The footer of Caribou's own site confirms it is part of Panera Brands, but ownership is not a shared wallet: Panera runs its own gift cards and its own MyPanera account, and neither honours the other's balance. This card buys Caribou drinks, food and beans, full stop.

Can I use it on Uber Eats?

No. Caribou lists Uber Eats as a separate way to order precisely because the payment happens inside Uber's app, not on Caribou's till — there is no field for a Caribou gift card there. Order ahead in the Caribou app for pickup or drive-thru and the balance applies normally.

Does it work on the online store for whole-bean coffee?

Yes. Caribou states the card redeems "in-store, in the app, or online", and cariboucoffee.com sells whole bean and ground bags, K-Cups and merchandise that ship to US addresses. That makes it useful even for someone who lives nowhere near a Caribou coffeehouse.

How does the balance behave — can I combine cards or top up a shortfall?

Both work. Transfer several codes into one Perks account and they merge into a single balance, and if a round costs more than the balance covers, the till takes the remainder on cash or a payment card. What you cannot do is use a gift card to buy another gift card.

Does the recipient need a Caribou account to use it?

Not strictly. The code can be handed to a barista at any participating US location without any account at all. Creating a free Caribou Perks account is only needed to hold the balance in the app, to order ahead, and to collect points — and it takes an email and a password, with no payment card.

Which coins can I pay with, and how fast does the code arrive?

Eight — Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Solana, USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, Litecoin and TRON. The code is emailed once your payment confirms on chain, about eleven minutes on median. No account with us, no KYC and no identity document; the smallest Caribou card here is $50.
