About this card
An Xbox gift card is store credit in the Microsoft account, and Microsoft spends that balance before it touches any payment card on file. It covers everything the Xbox and Microsoft stores sell for your region: full games and pre-orders, DLC and expansions, in-game currency, apps, films and TV, and Game Pass or Game Pass Ultimate. On Windows, the same balance covers Microsoft Store purchases tied to the account.
We also stock an Xbox Game Pass card, and the two are genuinely different products. Game Pass is a subscription code — a fixed run of months on the Game Pass library and nothing else. This card is money. If you know you want Game Pass specifically, the subscription card is usually the better value; if you want the freedom to buy a particular game, some DLC, or a few months of Ultimate, buy credit.
The card is region-locked to the Microsoft account's country, and Microsoft support cannot change a card's region or convert it between them. You can change your account's country — unlike PlayStation, where it is fixed forever — but an existing balance does not travel with the account when you do, so a mismatched card is still stranded in practice. Pick the variant matching the account you already use.
Microsoft account balance does not expire in the great majority of markets and carries no dormancy or service fees. Because renewals draw from the balance first, a topped-up account keeps Game Pass Ultimate running with no bank card attached at all — and when the balance runs out the subscription stops rather than silently charging you. We never ask for a Microsoft login, a passport or any government ID.
What you get

How to redeem
Same flow on every Xbox store — only the URL changes per region.
- On console: press the Xbox button → Store → Redeem.
- On the web: sign in at
redeem.microsoft.com. - Enter the 25-character code from your delivery email.
- The value lands in your Microsoft account balance and is spent before any card on file.
The Microsoft account region must match the card's region. Microsoft cannot convert a card between regions.
Region terms
Specific to United States
- Region-locked. Must match the region set on the Microsoft account; Microsoft support cannot change or convert a card's region.
- Account region can be changed by the owner, but an existing balance does not carry over — a mismatched card stays stranded.
- Covers: games, pre-orders, DLC, in-game currency, apps, films and TV, Game Pass and Game Pass Ultimate, plus Microsoft Store purchases on Windows.
- Validity: balance does not expire in most markets; no dormancy or service fees.
- Subscription renewals draw from the balance before any card on file.
- Our cover: if the code fails at redemption, open your order page within 14 days — we re-issue or refund in your original coin.
