About this card

Total Wine & More runs more than 280 superstores across 30 states and is the largest independent drinks retailer in the country. Each store is built around depth rather than assortment padding: the company counts over 8,000 wines, 3,000 spirits and 2,500 beers on the shelf, plus glassware, decanters, mixers, non-alcoholic ranges and a schedule of in-store classes and tastings. The card is credit against that, in store and on totalwine.com.

The balance is USD and behaves simply. It is redeemable up to the balance for goods or services at participating locations — which is what makes it usable for a class or a tasting event, not only for bottles. It does not expire, carries no fees, is not reloadable, and is not refundable or redeemable for cash except as required by law. Anything left after a purchase stays on the card.

Two limits are set by law rather than by the retailer, and they are worth reading before you pay. First, alcohol sales are regulated state by state: what may be sold, shipped or delivered, and by whom, differs across state lines, and Total Wine's own gift-card terms go further by excluding its Kansas, New York and Oklahoma stores from redemption altogether. Second, a gift card changes nothing about age verification — a valid government ID showing 21 or over is checked at the register, at store pickup and at the door on delivery, regardless of who paid or how.

There is a third point that is easy to misread. The discount here is on what you pay us for the card, not a price cut at the point of sale: the card is always spent at full face value at the till. That distinction matters because a number of states regulate discounting and promotional pricing on alcoholic beverages, and some limit how a discounted or promotional instrument may be applied to them. Buying it here needs no Total Wine account, no card on file and no identity document — a delivery email, the coin you already hold, and the code arrives in about eleven minutes.

Asked & answered

Specifics for Total Wine & More cards. For general crypto-payment questions, see the site FAQ.

Are there US states where this card does not work?

Yes, three. Total Wine's gift-card terms make the card not redeemable at its Kansas, New York or Oklahoma locations, a consequence of how those states license alcohol retail. Everywhere else in its 30-state footprint it spends normally, in store and on totalwine.com. Check which state the recipient will actually shop in before you buy.

Does paying with a gift card change the age check?

No, and it never does. Alcohol may only be sold to someone aged 21 or over in the United States, and a valid government photo ID is checked at the register, at store pickup and by the driver on delivery — regardless of who bought the card, who is holding it, or which payment method settles the bill. The card is tender, nothing more.

Can the balance pay for classes and tastings?

Yes. The terms make the card redeemable for goods or services at participating locations, and Total Wine's in-store tasting events and classes are services rung through the same till. Availability and scheduling differ store to store, so check the events page for the specific location before assuming a particular class is on offer.

Does the balance expire, and can I reload the card?

The balance does not expire and carries no fees, so nothing is deducted for dormancy. The card is not reloadable, however: this code holds the value it was issued with, and adding more means a second code. Several codes can be applied to one purchase, and any leftover value stays on each code for a later visit.

Can I use it for an online order with delivery or store pickup?

Yes, on totalwine.com, but set the local store first — stock, pricing, delivery and shipping rules all follow the store you select, and what can be shipped or delivered is set by state law rather than by the retailer. Some states permit shipping, some permit local delivery only, and some permit neither. ID is verified on handover in every case.

Is the discount a price cut on the alcohol itself?

No, and the distinction is deliberate. The discount applies to what you pay us for the card; at the register the card is worth its full face value and the shelf price is unchanged. That matters because several states regulate discounting and promotional pricing on alcoholic beverages and limit how a discounted instrument may be applied to them — a face-value gift card sidesteps the question because it is simply tender.

Can I combine several cards, or pay the difference another way?

Both. More than one gift card can be applied to a single purchase in store or online, each balance drawn down in turn, and any shortfall is settled with another payment method at the same checkout. If the basket comes to less than the card, the remainder stays on the code rather than being forfeited.

Which coins can I pay with, and how fast does the code arrive?

Eight — Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Solana, USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, Litecoin and TRON. The claim code is emailed once your payment confirms on chain, about eleven minutes on median. The floor on gift cards here is $50 USD-equivalent, and there is no account, no KYC and no identity document at any point.
