About this card
Greyhound has been running intercity coaches since 1914, when Carl Eric Wickman started carrying miners between towns in Hibbing, Minnesota, and it still reaches around 2,300 destinations across the United States plus the cross-border services into Mexico. Since 2021 it has belonged to Flix SE, the German operator behind FlixBus, which brought a modern fleet, app ticketing and network planning to the oldest name in American bus travel. A gift card here is ticket money on that network.
The card behaves as payment at the greyhound.com checkout and in the Greyhound app — you build the journey as normal and apply the card at the payment step. Because it settles the whole order total, anything you add to the booking at the time of purchase rides along with it: the fare, seat selection where offered, and extra-bag charges beyond the carry-on and checked bag that come with a standard fare.
Two rules shape how you should buy. First, it is an online instrument: it is not accepted at a station ticket window, at a boarding gate or on the coach, so a bag you decide to check when you arrive at the terminal is paid there with something else. Second, only one gift card can go on a booking — two cards cannot be combined on the same trip — so buy a face value that comfortably covers the journey you have in mind and settle any shortfall with another payment method rather than planning to stack.
Scope is the United States plus Greyhound-operated cross-border routes into Mexico. Greyhound Canada ceased operations in 2021, so there is no Canadian network to spend it on, and although Flix owns both brands, greyhound.com and the FlixBus checkout are separate — the card is applied at the Greyhound one. Buying it takes no Greyhound account and no identity check: a delivery email, the coin you already hold, and the code lands in about eleven minutes.
What you get
- A claim code, delivered by email
- A private order page (14-day access)
- Re-issue or full refund if the code fails
- No Greyhound login or ID required
Asked & answered
Specifics for Greyhound cards. For general crypto-payment questions, see the site FAQ.
Can I use the card at a Greyhound terminal counter or on the bus?
Does it cover baggage fees?
Can I combine two gift cards on one booking?
Does it work on Greyhound Canada?
Flix owns Greyhound now — will it pay for a FlixBus ticket?
greyhound.com and the FlixBus site run separate checkouts with separate payment options. The card is applied at the Greyhound checkout, on Greyhound-branded services, so treat it as money for Greyhound rather than for the whole Flix network.
