À propos de cette carte

Greyhound has been running intercity coaches since 1914, when Carl Eric Wickman started carrying miners between towns in Hibbing, Minnesota, and it still reaches around 2,300 destinations across the United States plus the cross-border services into Mexico. Since 2021 it has belonged to Flix SE, the German operator behind FlixBus, which brought a modern fleet, app ticketing and network planning to the oldest name in American bus travel. A gift card here is ticket money on that network.

The card behaves as payment at the greyhound.com checkout and in the Greyhound app — you build the journey as normal and apply the card at the payment step. Because it settles the whole order total, anything you add to the booking at the time of purchase rides along with it: the fare, seat selection where offered, and extra-bag charges beyond the carry-on and checked bag that come with a standard fare.

Two rules shape how you should buy. First, it is an online instrument: it is not accepted at a station ticket window, at a boarding gate or on the coach, so a bag you decide to check when you arrive at the terminal is paid there with something else. Second, only one gift card can go on a booking — two cards cannot be combined on the same trip — so buy a face value that comfortably covers the journey you have in mind and settle any shortfall with another payment method rather than planning to stack.

Scope is the United States plus Greyhound-operated cross-border routes into Mexico. Greyhound Canada ceased operations in 2021, so there is no Canadian network to spend it on, and although Flix owns both brands, greyhound.com and the FlixBus checkout are separate — the card is applied at the Greyhound one. Buying it takes no Greyhound account and no identity check: a delivery email, the coin you already hold, and the code lands in about eleven minutes.

Questions et réponses

Spécificités des cartes Greyhound. Pour les questions générales sur le paiement crypto, consultez la FAQ du site.

Can I use the card at a Greyhound terminal counter or on the bus?

No. This is an online instrument: it is applied at the payment step of the greyhound.com checkout or in the Greyhound app, and it is not accepted at a station ticket window, at the boarding gate or by the driver. Buy the ticket before you travel and take the confirmation with you — the code is not a substitute for a ticket at the terminal.

Does it cover baggage fees?

It covers them when they are on the booking. A standard Greyhound fare includes a carry-on and a checked bag; additional bags cost extra, and if you add them during checkout the card pays the whole order total including those charges. A bag you decide to check when you reach the terminal is charged at the counter, where the card cannot be used.

Can I combine two gift cards on one booking?

No — only one gift card can be applied per booking. If the fare comes to more than the card holds, Greyhound will take the difference from another payment method at checkout, but a second gift card cannot be added alongside the first. Buy a face value that covers the journey you have in mind rather than planning to stack several small ones.

Does it work on Greyhound Canada?

There is no Greyhound Canada to use it on. The Canadian operation ceased all services in 2021 and was wound down, so the network the card spends on is the United States plus the cross-border routes Greyhound runs into Mexico. Buy it for someone travelling within the US, not for a Canadian journey.

Flix owns Greyhound now — will it pay for a FlixBus ticket?

Not directly. Greyhound has been part of Flix SE since 2021 and the two brands share network planning, but greyhound.com and the FlixBus site run separate checkouts with separate payment options. The card is applied at the Greyhound checkout, on Greyhound-branded services, so treat it as money for Greyhound rather than for the whole Flix network.

Can I use it on routes into Mexico?

Yes, for the cross-border services Greyhound sells on its own site. The card settles the order total in USD at the greyhound.com checkout regardless of whether the journey ends in the United States or crosses the border, so a ticket from a Texas or California gateway southbound is paid the same way as a domestic one. Travel documents for the crossing are of course your own affair.

What happens to money left on the card after a cheap ticket?

The card is applied against one booking at a time, so a fare smaller than the card leaves the difference for a later trip rather than being lost — but because Greyhound accepts only one gift card per booking, that residue cannot be topped up with a second card later. In practice the tidy approach is to buy a denomination close to the journeys you actually plan.

Which coins can I pay with, and what is the smallest card?

Eight — Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Solana, USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, Litecoin and TRON. The floor is $50 USD-equivalent, which on Greyhound is a genuine intercity hop rather than a token, and custom amounts run to $1,000. No account, no KYC and no identity document — we ask only for the email the code should go to.
