حول هذه البطاقة

Kobo is not a shop you walk into — it is a reading ecosystem. Founded in Toronto in 2009 out of Indigo Books & Music and owned by Rakuten since 2012, it pairs a catalogue of more than six million ebooks plus a deep audiobook and comics list with its own e-readers — the Clara, the Libra Colour, the Sage, the Elipsa — and free apps for iOS, Android, Windows and macOS. The devices are the reason people choose it over the obvious alternative: they open ordinary EPUB and PDF files, they take sideloaded DRM-free books without argument, and in the US and Canada they borrow from public libraries through OverDrive at no cost at all.

What this card does is credit a Kobo account. The value sits there as store balance and is drawn down one title at a time as the reader buys — which is a different rhythm from a retail card that gets spent in a single trip. At typical ebook and audiobook prices, a $100 balance is somewhere between fifteen and thirty books rather than one purchase, and it will still be there next winter, because redeemed balance does not expire under the US terms. Two honest boundaries: the credit does not buy Kobo hardware — an e-reader is a separate purchase outside the store balance — and the Kobo Plus subscription is a recurring charge that wants a payment method on file to renew itself, so plan the balance around buying titles outright, which is the thing it reliably does.

Buying it here needs no Kobo account of your own, no card on file and no identity check. You give us a delivery email, pay in the coin you already hold, and the claim code arrives about eleven minutes after the payment confirms on chain. The Kobo account only matters at redemption, and creating one costs nothing more than an email address — which is also how someone outside the US can put credit into an American reader's library.

The constraint that decides whether this is the right gift: the Kobo store is country-specific and the library is bound to the account. Each national storefront has its own catalogue, its own prices and its own publishing rights, so a US card redeems on the US store against a US-region account and an account's region is not something to change casually. Once redeemed, titles bought with the credit carry DRM tied to that account — they open on Kobo e-readers and in the Kobo apps, and they do not move onto a Kindle. Buy this for someone who already reads on Kobo, not for someone who might one day.

الأسئلة والأجوبة

تفاصيل خاصة ببطاقات Rakuten Kobo. للأسئلة العامة حول الدفع بالعملات المشفرة، راجع الأسئلة الشائعة.

Is this a store card, or credit on an account?

Credit on an account. Redeeming the code puts store balance onto a Kobo account, and that balance is drawn down a title at a time as the reader buys ebooks, audiobooks or comics. There is no card to carry and nothing to present anywhere — the account is the wallet, and every Kobo device and app signed in to it draws from the same pot.

Can I buy a Kobo e-reader with it?

No. The credit is store balance for the reading catalogue, not general purchasing power at Rakuten Kobo — a Clara, Libra Colour, Sage or Elipsa is bought separately, from Kobo's hardware checkout or a retail partner, and this balance will not settle it. Treat the card as a book budget for someone who already owns a reader, or reads in the free app.

Does it work for audiobooks as well as ebooks?

Yes. Audiobooks bought outright on the Kobo store draw from exactly the same account balance as ebooks and comics do, at the price shown on the title's page. That flexibility is part of the appeal — the same $100 can be split across ten novels and three long-form audiobooks with nothing having to be decided in advance.

Can I put the balance toward a Kobo Plus subscription?

Treat buying titles as the certainty and the subscription as the maybe. Kobo Plus is a recurring charge, and recurring billing generally needs a payment method on file so it can renew itself — the same reason store credit rarely funds subscriptions anywhere. The balance's reliable job is buying ebooks, audiobooks and comics outright, and it does that indefinitely.

Will books bought with this work on a Kindle?

No, and this is the constraint to settle before gifting. Commercial titles from the Kobo store carry DRM tied to the Kobo account that bought them, so they open on Kobo e-readers and in the Kobo apps for iOS, Android, Windows and macOS — not on a Kindle. Kobo devices are unusually open in the other direction, happily reading sideloaded DRM-free EPUB and PDF files, but that is a separate matter from purchased books.

Does it matter which country's Kobo store the account uses?

It matters a great deal. Kobo runs separate national storefronts with different catalogues, different prices and different publishing rights, and a gift card is bound to the store it was issued for. This one is for the US store and a US-region account. Changing an existing account's region is not a casual setting, so check which store the reader already buys from before you pay.

How fast does the code arrive, and can I send it to someone else?

The code is emailed once your payment confirms on chain — about eleven minutes on median. Put the recipient's address into the delivery field at checkout and it goes straight to them, which matters more than usual here: whoever redeems it owns the library it builds, so the code should reach the reader rather than pass through you.

Which coins can I pay with, and is there a minimum?

Eight — Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Solana, USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, Litecoin and TRON. The floor on gift cards is $50 USD-equivalent, so the smallest Kobo card here is $50 — which at typical ebook prices is already a solid stack of reading. No account, no KYC and no identity document at any point.
