A Columbia card will not pay for a SOREL Caribou or a Mountain Hardwear tent. What it does cover is columbia.com plus Columbia's own US retail and outlet stores, where the same code works at the till.

The credit itself behaves like cash on the account: it is applied at the payment step, it works on full price, sale and clearance alike, whatever is left stays on the card for the next order, and anything the card does not cover is settled with a second payment method. There is no expiry and no dormancy or service fee, so a card bought for a September birthday is still whole when the first cold snap arrives.

Buying it here needs no Columbia account, no card on file and no identity check — a delivery email is the only thing we ask for. That also makes it a workable gift from outside the United States, with one caveat worth naming before you pay: columbia.com ships to US addresses, so the person redeeming it needs to be shopping the US store.
