Shake Shack started as a hot dog cart in Madison Square Park in 2001, raising money for a public art programme, and became a permanent kiosk there in 2004. It now runs roughly 350 company-operated Shacks across the United States, with a further two hundred-plus operated by licensees — the international ones from London to Tokyo, Seoul, Dubai and Mexico City, and the domestic ones inside stadiums, airports and travel plazas. The menu is short and famous: the ShackBurger and SmokeShack, the 'Shroom Burger, Hot Chick'n, crinkle-cut fries under cheese sauce, and frozen custard spun into shakes and concretes.

That licensee split is the single most important thing about this card, and Shake Shack says it plainly: gift cards are not accepted at Shacks in stadiums, airports, travel plazas or event venues, and not at any location outside the United States. A card bought for a friend in New York is perfect; the same card is worthless at the Shack in Heathrow, in Seoul or at the ballpark. Buy it for someone who eats at a standard street-corner Shack.

Where it does work, it works broadly. The balance is issued in US dollars and covers food, beverages and merchandise — the T-shirts and caps as well as the burgers, beer and wine where a Shack pours them, and the Pooch-ini and Bag O' Bones from the dog menu. It also pays at the shakeshack.com and Shack App checkout, so an order can be placed ahead and collected without a printed code. The one purchase it will not make is another gift card.

Buying it here needs no Shake Shack account, no card on file and no identity check. You give us a delivery email, pay in the coin you already hold, and the claim code lands in about eleven minutes once the payment confirms on chain. One last limit: an order placed inside DoorDash, Uber Eats or Grubhub is billed by that app rather than by Shake Shack, so the card cannot pay for it — use the Shack App instead, which runs delivery through Shake Shack's own checkout.
