A PlayStation Store card tops up the PSN wallet, which the store then draws on before any payment card attached to the account. That covers full games and pre-orders, DLC and season passes, in-game currency, films and TV, and every tier of PlayStation Plus — Essential, Extra and Premium. For a shared or family console it is the tidiest way to fund purchases without leaving a bank card on the profile.

These vouchers are country-locked, not merely region-locked. A code only redeems on a PSN account registered in the same country, and Sony performs no currency conversion — a German code will not work on a French account even though both sit inside Europe. The variant chips above name the store each card belongs to.

One constraint makes this stricter than Steam or Xbox and is worth stating plainly: a PlayStation Network account's country is fixed at creation and cannot be changed later. There is no settings page to switch it, and Sony support will not convert a code between countries. A mismatched voucher is not recoverable, so check the country on your existing account before choosing a variant.

PSN wallet funds do not expire once redeemed and carry no dormancy or service fees. We never ask for a PSN login, a passport or any government ID — an email address is the only thing we need in order to deliver the 12-character code.

Is a PSN card region-locked or country-locked?

Country-locked, which is stricter. A voucher only redeems on a PlayStation Network account registered in the same country — a German code will not work on a French account even though both are in "Europe". There is no automatic currency conversion. Check the country on your PSN account, not the continent.

Can I change my PSN account country if I buy the wrong one?

No — and this is the single most important thing to know. A PlayStation Network account's country is set when the account is created and cannot be changed afterwards. Steam and Xbox users sometimes assume they can switch region to rescue a mismatched code; on PSN you cannot. Buy the variant matching your existing account, or the code is simply unusable.

How do I redeem the code?

On a PS5: Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Payment and Subscriptions → Redeem Codes. On a PS4: PlayStation Store → Redeem Codes. On the web, sign in at store.playstation.com and use Redeem Codes from the profile menu. The value lands in your PSN wallet immediately.

What can I spend the wallet balance on?

Does the balance or the code expire?

Can I use it for PlayStation Plus?

Yes — this is one of the most common uses. Top the wallet up, then buy or renew any PS Plus tier from the store. Because Sony charges the wallet before the card on file, a topped-up wallet keeps a subscription running without a bank card attached to the account at all.

Is the code transferable?

Yes, until it is redeemed. The 12-character code is a bearer instrument — anyone with a PSN account in the matching country can enter it. Once redeemed the funds are locked to that wallet and cannot be moved or refunded.
