Hardee's is the charbroiled half of CKE Restaurants: third-pound Angus Thickburgers cooked over an open flame, the Monster Thickburger for people who have made peace with it, hand-breaded chicken tenders, hand-scooped shakes, and a breakfast counter built on Made From Scratch Biscuits that are rolled and cut in the restaurant every morning. It is a Southeast and Midwest institution — North Carolina alone holds roughly two hundred of them, about an eighth of the US estate.

Here is the part worth knowing before you choose a face value: this is not a Hardee's-only card. CKE issues one gift card for both of its US brands, so the same code is applied to any purchase at participating Carl's Jr. restaurants as well. That turns a regional card into a near-national one, because the two chains barely overlap — Hardee's runs east of the Rockies, Carl's Jr. runs the West and Southwest, and together they are more than 3,800 restaurants. A recipient who moves between Charlotte and California does not need two cards.

Mechanically it is ordinary stored value at the till: hand it over at the counter or the drive-thru, it is drawn down across as many visits as it takes, whatever is left stays on the code, and any shortfall goes on another payment method. The card carries no expiry and no fees, is governed by Tennessee law, and can only be used in the United States — the hundreds of Hardee's and Carl's Jr. franchises trading abroad are not on this programme.

Buying it here needs no account, no card on file and no identity check — a delivery email, the coin you already hold, and the code lands in about eleven minutes. Two constraints to name: acceptance is at participating restaurants, and the overwhelming majority of the estate is franchised, so a single unusual location can decline. And an order placed inside DoorDash, Uber Eats or Grubhub is paid to that app, not to the restaurant, so the card is not a payment option there — spend it at the counter or in the drive-thru instead.
