Sheetz has been family-owned since Bob Sheetz bought a single dairy store in Altoona, Pennsylvania in 1952, and it still calls itself a convenience restaurant rather than a gas station. Second, a pump pre-authorises a hold before it will dispense, so a card that is nearly empty is quicker to spend by prepaying a set amount at the register than by inserting it outside.
