American Airlines is the largest airline in the world by fleet size and passengers carried, running roughly 6,700 daily departures to nearly 350 destinations in over 60 countries from hubs at Dallas/Fort Worth, Charlotte, Chicago O'Hare, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Miami, Washington National and New York. An American gift card pays for the ticket itself at aa.com, with no AAdvantage membership in between.
The card is USD-only and origin-restricted: it funds air travel on itineraries sold and originating in the United States, Puerto Rico or the U.S. Virgin Islands. The destination is unrestricted — you can fly Dallas to Auckland on it — but the journey has to start and be ticketed in those territories. This is the honest difference between this card and the Delta card we also sell, which carries no origin restriction at all.
Up to eight gift cards can be applied to a single transaction, which is unusually generous and makes it realistic to assemble a long-haul business fare out of several cards. The card covers the base fare plus the taxes and fees collected in the fare calculation. It cannot be redeemed at airport ticket counters or through travel agents — online at aa.com or by phone only.
Balances never expire, carry no monthly or maintenance fees, and are not reloadable. We never ask for an AAdvantage login, a passport or any government ID; an email address is the only thing we need in order to deliver the card number and PIN.

aa.com and, on the payment page, choose to pay with a gift card, then enter the card number and PIN from your delivery email. You can also redeem by calling American Airlines Reservations. Gift cards cannot be redeemed at airport ticket counters or through travel agents — that is an American Airlines rule and there is no workaround.
