Acerca de esta tarjeta

Nespresso is Nestlé's capsule-coffee business, running since 1986 out of Lausanne and built on a closed loop: aluminium capsules sold by the sleeve, machines built under licence by De'Longhi, Breville and Krups, and around 800 of its own boutiques where the same coffee is sold over a counter. The gift card is credit on that catalogue — capsules, a machine, an Aeroccino frother, descaling kits, cups and glasses, the free recycling bags — which for most owners is the standing coffee bill rather than the treat.

The single fact worth checking before you pay is which system the machine takes. Nespresso sells two that do not meet: Original, the classic 19-bar pump line with the small cone capsule, and Vertuo, which spins the capsule and reads a barcode on the rim to set the extraction, pouring anything from a 40 ml espresso to a 414 ml Alto. A Vertuo capsule will not fit an Original machine and an Original capsule means nothing to a Vertuo. The card does not care — but the person spending it does, so look at the counter first.

The second thing to get right is the market. nespresso.com is a set of country stores, each with its own catalogue, its own prices, its own limited editions and its own gift-card programme. The US card is spent on the US store and in US boutiques; the Italian card on the Italian store and in Italian boutiques. They do not cross, so pick the row that matches where the coffee will actually be ordered, not where you happen to be sitting.

Buying it here needs no Nespresso account and no identity check — a delivery email, the coin you already hold, and the code arrives in about eleven minutes. In the US the balance carries no expiry and no dormancy fee, and signing in to a free account puts orders over $50 into free shipping, so a $100 card is comfortably four sleeves and no delivery charge. On the Italian card, the validity period is whatever Nespresso Italia states alongside the code — worth reading once rather than assuming.

Preguntas y respuestas

Detalles de las tarjetas Nespresso. Para preguntas generales sobre pagos crypto, consulta la FAQ del sitio.

Original or Vertuo — which capsules will this card buy?

Either, but not both into the same machine. Original capsules fit only Original machines and Vertuo capsules only Vertuo, because Vertuo spins the capsule and reads a barcode on its rim to choose the extraction. The card is plain credit, so the constraint is the machine on the counter — check it before you spend, not after.

Can I use a US card on the Italian store, or the other way round?

No. Nespresso runs a separate store per country, each with its own catalogue, prices and gift-card programme, and a code issued for one market is refused at another market's checkout. Choose the row that matches where the coffee will be ordered and where the boutiques are — that is the market the code belongs to for good.

Does it work in a Nespresso boutique, or only online?

Both, within the same market. Nespresso operates around 800 boutiques of its own, and one in the card's country will take the code at the till against capsules, machines and accessories exactly as the website does. Show it before payment is rung up rather than after, since a closed sale cannot be re-tendered.

Can it pay for a machine, or only for coffee?

A machine is fine. The balance applies to anything in the consumer catalogue — a Vertuo or Original machine, an Aeroccino milk frother, the recycling bag, descaling kits, cups and glassware — not just capsules. At $500 or €500 the card comfortably covers a machine and a first stock of coffee to go with it.

Does the balance expire?

In the United States it does not: the balance carries no expiry and no service, dormancy or inactivity fee, clearing the five-year federal floor of the Credit CARD Act. The Italian card follows Italian market terms, so read the validity period stated with the code rather than assuming it runs forever.

Can I combine codes, or pay the difference another way?

Yes to both. Spend less than the code holds and the remainder stays for the next order; spend more and the shortfall is charged to a card or wallet at checkout. Signing in to a free US account also puts orders over $50 into free shipping, which is worth doing before you draw the balance down in small amounts.

How fast does the code arrive, and can I send it to someone else?

The code is emailed once your payment confirms on chain — about eleven minutes on median. Put the recipient's address in the delivery field at checkout and it reaches them directly without ever appearing on the payment page, so nobody has to forward a code or open an account before the gift lands.

Which coins can I pay with, and what is the smallest card?

Eight — Bitcoin, Monero, Ethereum, Solana, USDT on TRC-20 or ERC-20, Litecoin and TRON. The catalogue floor is $50 USD-equivalent, so the smallest cards are $50 and €50 — roughly four or five sleeves of capsules, which is a month of the habit for most households. No account, no KYC and no identity document.
